Restoring a Legacy .....

Historic Dempsey D. Butler Cemetery located in Camden NJ is a 144 year old African American and Civil War Union Soldier burial site.

Restoration is greatly needed to perserve this landmark and to revive a "forgotten Legacy" in the neighborhood of Centerville.

PLEASE join Friends of Butler Cemetery Association in restoring the Legacy by making a donation through Heart of Camden http://www.heartofcamden.org/

OR you may donate building materials to replace hairpin fencing, benches, cemetery markers and walkways.

Thank you for your support!

LAST CLEANUP FOR THE 2009 YEAR

Friends of Butler ended the 2009 cleanup in December! And as gesture of appreciation all Crew Members were given 2010 Butler Cemetery Calendars, with the top five ISP Crew Members receiving turkeys for the holidays!

A heart felt "Thank you" to Officer Lucy Valentin for her support and cooperation throughout the year. It is through her dedication that monthly annual cleanups are a reality at Butler Cemetery. The Crew was given a break this January and February due to frigid temperatures and snow. We are getting ready to gear up in March 2010, please come out and join us! Look for our 2010 schedule to be posted soon.....
